Perfume packaging for Cher La Verne

The brief

A fragrance brand selling eau de parfum needs boxes that feel giftable and premium, and that let a buyer tell the scents apart before they pick one up. With more than one line, it also needs each line to have its own character while staying recognisably the same brand.

What we designed

The Orchid and Hibiscus boxes are tall cartons with cream sides and a black panel down the front. Each panel carries a detailed botanical illustration of its flower: white orchids with green leaves, and coral-red hibiscus with foliage and buds. A small flower icon and the scent name in spaced serif capitals sit at the top. The brand name and EAU DE PARFUM run across the cream base in spaced sans serif capitals. The black background makes the flowers the first thing a buyer sees, and the shared layout means a new scent only needs a new illustration.

The Classic Series box is quieter. It is cream all over, with a large floral pattern drawn in fine lines in a slightly lighter tone, so it shows only when light catches the surface. An oval label in the centre carries a CV monogram, the Cher La Verne name, and the words Classic Series and For Her, with Fine Fragrance and Eau de Parfum set around the edge of the oval.

The two directions suit two kinds of buyer: the botanical boxes for someone choosing by scent, and the Classic Series for someone who wants an understated gift.
